Austin Jazz Society supports The Fred Hersch Trio at the Assembly Hall.
The Wall Street Journal calls The Fred Hersch Trio “one of the major ensembles of our time,” while The New Yorker has praised the group for playing with “high lyricism and high danger.” Named the #1 Jazz Group of the Year by DownBeat, the trio has maintained a celebrated presence at the Village Vanguard since 1997 and has appeared at leading festivals and concert halls around the world.
A seventeen-time Grammy nominee with more than sixty recordings to his credit, Fred Hersch is widely regarded as one of the most influential jazz pianists of his generation. As a performer, composer, educator, and mentor to artists including Brad Mehldau and Sullivan Fortner, Hersch has helped shape the direction of modern jazz for more than four decades.
